It seems everything gets a little brighter in the summer with all of that warm sunshine, blue sky, and bold colors everywhere. It’s fantastic! This month we are kicking off summer scrapbooking with some colorful layouts featuring the new Close To My Heart Little Dreamer Paper Packet, Complements, and Glitter Gems. These pages are going to be great for preserving stories of your summer activities like pool parties, water balloons fights, family celebrations, and so much more. And, since we have so many things happening in the summer, there is even a fourth bonus layout with some mix-and-match possibilities. It’s all listed below, so read on to find out how you can add a splash of summer color to your albums.

Here are the four Little Dreamer layouts that I designed. To really show of the bright, fun summer colors featured in the Background & Texture Papers, I added some extra cardstock in Lagoon, Crystal Blue, Lemon, Blossom, Thistle, and White Daisy cardstocks. Talk about vivid. These colors certainly pop!

Aren’t those papers terrific?  How about those bright colored dots, stripes, and even the fluffy white clouds on a blue sky background. Fantastic!

If you have not used Close To My Heart Paper Packets, there are a couple of things you will love about their paper. First, all of the patterned papers that come in a themed packet are color coordinated making them easy to mix-and-match. You do not have to try to figure out which papers look good together, because the are all designed to be used together. Second, the papers are printed on both sides with different patterns, giving you twice as many prints and patterns to choose from. It’s awesome!

For example, look at layout #4 above, you see that the Background & Texture paper I used in the composition is the bright colored dots. Now, if you look at the layout shown below, you will notice that it is the exact same composition, but it looks totally different. You would think that I used a completely different piece of Background & Texture paper, but I didn’t.

I actually used the exact same pieces of Background & Texture papers and cardstocks to make both layouts. All I did was flip the Dots Background & Texture paper to the other side, which has the Unicorn Background & Texture paper on it. I didn’t cut anything different, I just turned the paper over. You can actually change the look and feel of each layout simply by turning the paper over and using the other side. I love that!

To go along with the different themes on the two layouts, I simply used different Picture My Life cards and accessories that all came from the same Paper and Complement packages. Too easy!

This is a great thing to keep in mind as you are putting your scrapbook layouts together. There are terrific coordinating prints on both sides of the paper, so choose the one that fits best for the story you want to tell on your pages.
