I have really enjoyed making the new Happy, Happy Christmas album and projects that Close To My Heart has available this month. With one Workshop Guide, one core set of supplies, and a choice of add on project styles, I can make five different personalize Christmas projects. If you have not heard about this fabulous special, you will want to read on to see what it’s all about. Even though these workshop projects are only available in November, there’s still time to get in on this holiday crafting goodness.

The Happy, Happy Christmas special begins with a bundle of goodies and all of the instructions you need to complete five beautiful scrapbook layouts, that’s ten 12″ x 12″ pages. By using a unique set of products to make the pages, they are like nothing else you will have in your scrapbooks. They have a classic, sort of nostalgic, look to them that is really quite fun.

The bundle includes your choice of a D-Ring or Post Bound Album in this gorgeous red, Memory Protectors, and all of the supplies you see shown below. It’s only $69.95 for everything.

These are the five scrapbook layouts that you can make using the supplies in the bundle and following the Happy, Happy Christmas Workshop Guide.

I can see so many different types of photographs on these pages, including old family photos and black and white prints. Talk about scrapbook pages that are perfect for pictures of Christmas present, Christmas past, and Christmas yet to come, these are great.

After making the scrapbook layouts, the Workshop Guide has complete instructions for creating four other optional gifts. I made one of each project style and added photos, so you could see what they look like all put together.

Holiday Display Tray – The Display Trays can hang or sit in easels on a shelf or mantel. They can hold 3″ x 4″ photos or 4″ x 6″ photos that you cut and spread across two sections.

“Tis The Season” Hinged Display Tray – The Hinged Display is terrific for smaller spaces and adding holiday decor on book shelves, desks, fireplace mantels, college dorm rooms, office cubicles, etc. It was so easy to decorate this project. It could be a great gift for lots of people on your Christmas list. I really liked the way this project turned out. (I especially like the picture of Sophie with snow on her nose.)

michelles-hinged-display-tray-pm

Magnetic Chalkboard Frame – These frames are really very versatile. I like the chalkboard also being magnetic, so I can write on it and also use magnets to hold things in place. The instructions for this project have you glue everything to the chalkboard, however I put some magnetic sheeting behind a couple of my project pieces to make the whole thing removable and reusable every year. This way I can use the chalkboard all year long. And, if red is not your color, the frame can be spray painted to fit the color scheme you need.

Everyday Life Album – These are fantastic mini albums with easy My Crush pages and pocket Memory Protectors for adding photos and holiday memorabilia. This is a simple slip on cover made from the supplies left over from the bundle and there are lots of pages inside for memory keeping.

christmas-everyday-life-album-cover

These Happy, Happy Christmas scrapbook pages and holiday projects are available in November in a special pricing package, saving 10% on the album bundle and 30-40% on the frames and decor items. That can be really helpful for your own personal memory keeping projects, and great for gifts, too.

On a side note, if you are giving something like the Hinged Display Tray as a gift, you can either add photos to it as you are making it, or you can just put White Daisy Cardstock where the photos would go and let the person you give it to add their own photos.

There are only a couple more days in November, so be sure to visit my website and order your Happy, Happy Christmas Album Bundle while it is still available. The Workshop Guide that goes with it is something you can download from my website, too.  Click here to shop online.

Enjoy your holiday crafting and memory keeping. If you have any questions as you are creating, contact me at Michelle@SomethingAboutSharing.com. I am happy to help.

Can you believe October has already come and gone? It was a very busy month here, but it’s one of my favorites. Every October, since 1994 I host a Close To My Heart Holiday Extravaganza to share DIY project ideas for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas festivities. For weeks before Holiday extravaganza I create new projects, so that I can share as many new ideas for gift giving, decorating, gift wrap and tags, table settings, card making, mini albums, stocking stuffers, and scrapbooking as I can. It’s my favorite event of the year, complete with Christmas trees, lights, Candy Cane Cookies, and holiday music. I invite my Close To My Heart customers, family, and friends to come enjoy their first Christmas party of the year to kick off the season, and we have so much fun.

I have found a Close To My Heart stamp set that I’m having a great time creating with this summer. The more I use it, the more possibilities I see for other projects. I though it might be fun to share some of my stamping, scrapbooking playtime with you this week. Are you ready for some creative inspiration?

I’m using the Carnival Fun Stamp Set, and one of the best things about it is that there is matching Carnival Fun Thin Cut set to go with it. There is a really nice variety of images included in the matching sets.

Carnival Fun Collage

Actually, the first time I saw the Carnival Fun Stamp Set, there were instantly so many ideas running through my mind that I had a tough time trying to decide which project to work on first. That’s kind of good problem to have, though, right? A stamp set with oodles of possibilities. Gotta love it!

The big question was, “Where to begin?”

I decided to start with a movie theme. I really enjoy movies. In fact, my whole family enjoys movies. I have really great memories of going to opening night showings of movies with my kids. Whether it’s going to the theater or watching a DVD at home, movie nights with popcorn and treats are great fun. In the summertime we even have community movie nights in the park where you can watch a movie under the stars.

Here is the layout I designed using the popcorn image from the Carnival Fun Stamp Set and Thin Cuts. I added a couple of filmstrip die-cuts from that Close To My Heart Artistry Cartridge and letters from the Artiste Cartridge.

Movie Night Layout PM

I really like popcorn from the Carnival Fun Stamp Set and Thin Cuts, and it is super easy to use. It’s great having Thin Cuts to match the stamp set, because it eliminates all of the little detail cutting. You just run the Thin Cuts through your embossing machine, pop out the cardstock die-cuts, stamp the images on top, and add to your project. Simple. Because Close To My Heart stamps and blocks are clear, it’s easy to see right where to place the stamp design when you are making the print.

Popcorn Steps Collage PM

Now, I don’t know about you, but I like butter on my popcorn. To make the kernels look a little more buttery and yummy, I used my Waterbrush to pick up a little ink from a stamp pad and add a little extra color on top of some of the popcorn kernels. I used Canary ink for the butter, so the color would be a little softer than the kernels, which I stamped in Honey.

If you prefer Pocket Scrapbooking for your memory keeping, these images work really well for that format, as well. I like to blend my classic scrapbook pages and pocket pages, so here are a few Picture My Life Cards that I made to go with my layout.

Movie Night PML Collage PM

Can you see how the creative fun just keeps on going?  In fact, you could even use the Carnival Fun stamp set to create some quick invitations to have some friends over and make your movie night a party. If you look at the stamp set, again, you will notice it even has a stamp image that does the “Time, Date, Place, RSVP” for you. It would be easy to put together themed invitations using the popcorn for fun accents. Everyone likes a reason to get together, right? If you enjoy movies like I do, or you’re looking for an easy theme party, I’d encourage you to pick up the Carnival Stamp Set and Thin Cuts and have a movie night this summer.

Here is a list of the supplies that I used for my Movie Night scrapbook pages and cards.

  • C1648 Carnival Fun Stamp Set
  • Z3229 Carnival Fun Thin Cuts
  • X5779 Poppy Cardstock
  • 1386 Black Cardstock
  • Z2652 Poppy Exclusive Inks Pad
  • Z2105 Black Exclusive Inks Pad
  • Z2162 Honey Exclusive Inks Pad
  • Z2643 Canary Exclusive Inks Pad
  • Z3076 Gold Glitter Paper
  • Z3224 Watercolor Brush – Small Round
  • Z3167 CTMH Artistry Cricut Collection
  • Z3170 CTMH Artiste Cricut Collection

You can order the Carnival Fun Stamp Set and Thin Cuts and all of the supplies listed above by visiting my online shopping website. Click here to link right to the Carnival Fun supplies.

NOTE: Just in case you didn’t know, the Carnival Fun Stamp Set and Thin Cuts are part of the Close To My Heart Seasonal Expressions 2 products that are only available until August, 31…or while supplies last. If you would like a set, I would encourage you to order yours soon. The Thin Cuts sell out fast, because they are so awesome to use.

Questions? Contact me at Michelle@SomethingAboutSharing.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I’m going to be sharing some other ways I’ve been using the Carnival Fun Stamp Set and Thin Cuts for some of my summer projects, in case it might be helpful to you as you are making and keeping memories this summer. Watch for the different themes, so you can see some new possibilities.

Do you remember when holiday specials came on television once a year? It could be I’m totally dating myself right now, but this was a big deal back in the day. I remember when I was a kid I would check the TV listings in the newspaper to be sure I knew the date and time when my favorite specials were going to be on. Sound familiar to anyone else?

This was important stuff, because they were only on one time. There wasn’t the option to record it to watch it another day, or a DVD to pop in whenever you want, or even Netflix to catch up later. If you missed it, you were just out of luck until next year.

Growing up I was a huge Peanuts fan. Well, actually, I’m still a huge Peanuts fan. It’s true. I love Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang.

In fact, when I was in the Fourth Grade it seemed most of my creative assignments at school ended up having something to do with Snoopy. We made paper bag puppets, and mine looked like Snoopy. We did a little sculpting project where we could carve something out of a bar of Ivory soap, and mine looked like Snoopy. It could stand up on it’s own and everything. I even melted wax from birthday candles, drop by drop, to make the details. I used a black candle to color Snoopy’s nose, eyes, ears, and spot, and I used a red candle for his collar. That year at school there was even an assignment to write a letter to an author. I wrote to Charles M. Schulz, creator of Peanuts. When I received a letter back with a signed pictures and the whole deal I was over the moon excited. Talk about fond memories.

Well, you are not going to believe it, but I’m creating projects today and Snoopy and the Peanuts gang are still providing me with inspiration. Look what I found?

Peanutes Cocoa PM

“It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” spooky hot chocolate. That little find made me very happy. I could not resist buying a bunch to make Halloween treats. After all… the Great Pumpkin is coming in just a couple of weeks, right?

So, as I am making hot cocoa cards today, I thought I would share them with you. It’s a super easy project that can be adjusted to fit any theme or color scheme. You don’t need a lot of supplies and there aren’t a lot of steps.

Here’s how…

Step 1: Make The Card Base And Pocket

  • – Cut a 7″ x 8″ piece of cardstock and score it down the middle so that it will be 7″ x 4″ when folded. This will make the card base.
  • – Cut a  3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ piece of cardstock and score 3/4″ of an inch down one long side and one short side.
  • – Cut the corner diagonally off the small piece of cardstock where the score lines intersect. (See photograph.)

Cocoa Packet Steps PM

  • – Fold the tabs to the back of the small piece of cardstock, add adhesive and attach to the right side of the inside of the card base. The tabs should glued down so the bottom edge and the right edge are flush with the card base. This will create a pocket with an open edge on the right, or in the center of the card.

Cocoa Card Collage PM

Step 2: Decorate

  • – Decorate the front cover with stamping and/or embellishments to fit your theme or occasion. It doesn’t need to be complicated to be fun. I kept mine pretty simple so that it was more manageable to make a lot of them.
  • – For my Halloween theme, I used the CTMH “Tasty Terrors” Stamp Set. It’s great for treats, candy bar wrappers, etc. I also added some Green Shimmer Trim and Black Enamel Stars for accents.

Great Pumpkin Supplies Collage PM

Cocoa Packet Outside PM

My hot cocoa card packets for today coordinate with the Great Pumpkin for Halloween treats, however you can use this pattern for any occasion. At Christmastime I make them with holiday hot cocoa packets and tie a little candy cane to the front. Hopefully this will be a versatile little project that you can use to share some festive fun over the holidays, too.

Truth be told, I went ahead and watched my DVD of “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” while I was creating today. I know it’s early, but now that I can watch it any time, I figured why not. I love that the cocoa packages even match my DVD case. (It’s the little things.) Have a treat filled day.

Do you have a Cricut machine? I have one and it is cutting up a storm. There is quite a whirl of die-cut shapes coming out of my Cricut machine this afternoon. You know that “chirping” sound that your Cricut machines make when it’s cutting die-cut shapes for your projects? Well, there’s been a steady hum at my house today.

I am super excited about the new projects I am working on for Holiday Extravaganza. It’s true, Holiday Extravaganza, your first Christmas party of the year, is just around the corner and I’m having so much fun getting ready. Today I am finishing up some Halloween and Thanksgiving projects, along with creating some new Christmas gift giving items, too. Whew…there is holiday magic everywhere. I love it!

I have been having great fun combining different Close To My Heart Cricut Cartridges into my projects, but I am especially enjoying the new Artistry Cricut Cartridge. Oh, my goodness, the simple layering options are fantastic. Here are a couple sneak peek snapshots from the Halloween scrapbook pages that I’m working on.

Nevermore Collage PM

These are pictures from the Halloween layouts that I have designed for my October Scrapbook Workshops and Kits. I will be posting the pictures of the full pages and ordering information on October 1 (I can’t believe October is really in just two days). You’ll want to come back and see how these pages turned out and order a Workshop Kit so you are ready for pictures of all of the Halloween fun coming this month.

In the meantime, I thought you might like to hear a little more about the newest edition to the Close To My Heart Cricut family. Did you know you can look up Close To My Heart on YouTube to get tips and technique for different types of crafting projects? They do have some helpful videos there and this one has an introduction and overview to the new Close To My Heart Cricut Artistry Cartidge. If you don’t have this cartridge yet, watch this video to get the scoop on the special features for this cartridge. It is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

The endless possibilities with the overlays really is fabulous. I’m getting lots of festive goodies ready to share at Holiday Extravaganza and the Close To My Heart Cricut Artistry Cartridge is making it fun and easy. You can order a Cricut Artistry Cartridge on my shopping website by clicking here. Both the cartridge and the digital version are available for you on my website. I think you will enjoy the many different types of crafting you can do with this cartridge for the holidays, and every day.

I’m off to keep the creative flurry happening here. There are just so many things I am excited to try. If you live in the Boise Area, email me at Michelle@SomethingAboutSharing for information about attending this year’s Holiday Extravaganza. It is my favorite event every year and I enjoy sharing as many helpful tips for your Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas projects as I can…. invitations, decorations, gifts, home decor, and so much more. I can’t wait.

Remember recently when I confessed to still loving back-to-school supplies…new crayons, pencils, folders…all of those great basics and essentials that you get every year to get ready for all of the exciting new things a school year brings? Well, I found these crayons and they have inspired a whole lot of scrapbooking at my house.

Themed Crayon Packages PM

Have you seen these special themed boxes of crayons?  This collection includes Classic Disney characters, Marvel Avengers, and Disney Princesses. Aren’t they awesome? Just by mixing together different colors, Crayola had made super fun theme sets. Each themed box of crayons has different color combinations in it to fit the character shown on the cover of the box.

Three Boxes Crayon Collage PM

It was a light bulb moment when I first saw these boxes while walking through the school supply section at Target. As I stood there in the aisle looking to see how many different themed boxes there were, I got to thinking… I could make endless themed scrapbook pages by making different color combinations of the  new Close To My Heart Fundamentals collections. And…I even have photographs that have Classic Disney Characters, Marvel Avengers, and Disney Princesses.

That did it. I left Target and went home to dive into some new storytelling with a scrapbook project using Fundamentals. I have the first set finished and thought I would share them with you today. Are you ready? Here they are…my Crayola crayon inspired Marvel Avengers pages.

Avengers Layout 1

Avengers Fundamentals L2 PM

The pictures are a little fuzzy because the pages are inside Memory Protectors. I used Flip Flaps for some extra story extension on these pages, so I wanted you to see what the pages look like when you see them in my album. Some of those photographs are inside Flip Flaps and there are more spaces underneath that I use for extra pictures and journaling spaces. If you have not tried Flip Flaps, you really should. They come in a variety of size and are perfect for being able to expand your storytelling without need to create additional layouts.

Here are what the page bases look like without the Flip Flaps. Do you see the difference?

Avengers Layout 1 Base

Avengers L2 Base PM

Here’s what it looks like with the Flip Flaps so you can see where I have added extra photos and my spaces for journaling. I still need to go in and add my journaling, but you can see where it will go under Flip Flaps on both layouts.

Avengers Fundamentals L1 Flip Flap PM

Avengers Fundamentals L2 Flip Flap PM

Even though my kids are grown, I planned an Avengers party to celebrate my son’s last birthday. There were some silly moments with superhero masks and everything. It was awesome. Every time I look at these layouts I smile and I love the storytelling I am preserving with them. The Fundamental collection made enhancing the theme so easy with the bright-colored texture papers and stickers. The mix-and-match flexibility in the coordinating sets is great. If you have not seen the Close To My Heart Fundamentals collection, you have to click here to check them out on my shopping website.

Creating with the Fundamentals collection feels just as exciting as opening a new box of crayons and beginning to splash color on new projects. The fabulous colors, patterns, coordinating sticker sheets, and accessories are fantastic and just full of creative possibilities. I am pretty sure the Fundamentals collection is my new favorite crafting essential for all types of projects. Just look at all of these dazzling colors in the Enchantment color group.

Fundamentals Collection Enchantment PM

The Fundamental Sticker sets are terrific with four 6″ x 12″ sheets full of color coordinated stickers. The sets include three full alphabet sets with multiple letters and numbers, titles, icon shapes, accents, and labels. If you look above you see lots of ways I used the stickers.

  1. I used the alphabet letters to spell out “MARVEL” in the title, to personalize photos with my kids’ names, to add “27th Birthday,” and I even used the numbers on top of the photos to coordinate with the journaling that will be under the Flip Flap. This makes an easy reference to match the pictures with the story that goes with them.
  2. I used labels and banner shapes for color accents and journal spots. I even layered some stars shapes on top of the birthday cake picture. The colors blend so well, they kind of look like they are part of the photo. Love being able to add all of those great accent details.

There are four color palettes to choose from in the Fundamentals collection, Whimsy, Adventure, Enchantment, and Basics. Each group is made up of 10 different colors, so the combinations just become endless.

Fundamental Paper Colors Collage

I already have my next set of pages in the works and they use the Whimsy colors to bring together a Disney Priness themed set of layouts. So many possibilities. Stay tuned for more theme color fun featuring “FUN-damentals.” Not only are they the new classic basics tools that every craft room needs, they are also the splash of color that will bring endless creative inspiration and fun to your projects.

Last week I hosted a Creative Hearts Team Gathering at my house and we had great fun creating with the new Fundamental products and colors. Of course, I had to give each person their own brand new box of special crayons, too. Everyone went home with a different box of themed crayons and a challenge to create something new using Close To My Heart Fundamentals in their crayon color scheme. I cannot wait to see where their inspiration takes them.

CH Team Colorful Inspiration Collage

I invite you to visit my shopping website at www.michelle.ctmh.com and choose a Fundamentals collection to boost your creative inspirations, too. Whether you enjoy scrapbooking, making cards, or doing any papercrafting, you will love the possibilities with them crafting basics.

It’s amazing the difference something as simple as a smile can make. Don’t you agree? Just think about the impact a smile has on your day. A smile can be a friendly hello, a moment of encouragement, or even just a little bit of happy in someone’s day. It can share a vote of confidence, give a little extra assurance, or even a applaud a job well done. Even without any words, I find a smile can say a lot.

As I think about how powerful it can be to share a smile, or receive a smile, I am often reminded what a great thing it is to be a part of making a difference in the lives of children through Close To My Heart’s partnership with Operation Smile.

If you are not familiar with Operation Smile, it is an international medical charity that provides cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries for children around the world. With volunteer medical teams they are making it possible for many children to receive safe surgeries and treatments that are bringing new hope for a healthier life and a brighter future.

You can learn more about Operation Smile and see pictures of the children and families whose lives have been changed by the gift of a smile on their website. Just click here. What they do is amazing as they transform the lives of children around the world, one smile at a time. I get goosebumps every time.

As a company, Close To My Heart is committed “touching hearts and changing lives.” To take an active roll in sharing smiles for children, Close To My Heart donates a portion of the proceed of every My Acrylix Stamp Set to Operation Smile. That means every time you purchase a Close To My Heart stamp set you are contributing to providing a surgery for another child.

Close To My Heart also designs special, limited edition stamp sets that you can purchase which sends $3 per stamp set directly to Operation Smile. The special stamp set available right now is called, “You’re The Bomb,”  and I’ve been doing a little creating to share some extra happy mail and treats this month. I love the positive words that are included in the set.

You're The Bomb

Here’s one of my projects that features this stamp set. I really like the font used for the words and the way you can piece together different personalized messages.

You're The Bomb Card PM

I especially wanted this card to feel like sunshine in your mailbox so I used the bright bold colors from the Close To My Heart Brushed Paper Packet.

To add some extra texture I used the Close To My Heart “Vine” Embossing Folder on Canary Cardstock. I really like the pattern and raised images from dry embossing. I think the vine designs adds to the springtime feel of the card.

Join me in being part of sharing smiles with your friends and family, as well as sharing smiles through Operation Smile by purchasing the “You’re The Bomb” stamp set this week through my online shopping page. The stamp set includes 18 individual stamps images for only $13.95, and it is only available until March 31.

As a little thank you from me this week, when you place an order through my online shopping that includes the “You’re The Bomb” Stamp Set by March 31, I will send some happy mail your way, too. You will receive a hand stamped card and a free mini stamp set directly from me.

These are examples of some of the stamp sets I’ll be mailing out. Stamps sets are randomly chosen and will sprinkle a little creative fun in your crafting projects.

Mini Stamp Collage

Shopping Close To My Heart is easy. You can view the whole Close To My Heart product line and enjoy a wonderful creative resource by clicking here. All of the products I used to make the card above can be purchased on my website. And remember to order a “You’re The Bomb” Stamp Set to receive your free gift from me.

For only $240 Operation Smile can provide a surgery for another child that gives them a new smile and a new life. I really believe we can make a difference when we join together in a common goal, and giving a little bit here and there adds up to a miracle for someone else.

I like knowing that when I share a smile when I’m out for a walk, or when someone receives one of these cheerful cards in the mail, or when I participate in partnering with Operation Smile through Close To My Heart stamp sets that I am choosing to share something good, even if it seems very small. A smile really does make the world a brighter place. Here’s to sharing more smiles and making a difference.

I will be sharing another new project with the “You’re The Bomb” Stamp Set tomorrow, so come back and enjoy another fun project to smile about.

This time of year it is great fun to pull out favorite Christmas decorations, recipes, books, music, and photo albums. I enjoy our family traditions and making memories. I especially enjoy all the little things that can share a smile, brighten a day, and say, “Merry Christmas.”

Throughout December I’ve been looking for little things that I could do each day to celebrate the people in my life. It’s really be fun. It’s kind of like counting down to Christmas with a daily random act of kindness.

Today I baked up a little holiday cheer to share with a special friend. Many years ago he shared a book with me called, “Rhinoceros Success.” It’s a terrific book and we have talked often about it. When I saw a rhinoceros cookie cutter I knew I had to bake some rhino cookies for him, but not just any rhino cookies. I wanted them to say, “Merry Christmas,” too. The picture below shows you how they turned out. Who knew a rhinoceros cookie cutter to be so much fun? I am thinking these Christmas Rhino Cookies may need to be a new tradition.

Rhino Christmas Cookies may be a new tradition. So much fun to bake some special holiday treats for a special friend today. It's the little things. #SomethingAboutSharing

What kinds of traditions are you sharing this year? Close To My Heart has made it really easy to share little treat and treasures in December. I thinks little Cut Above Holiday Treat Kits are fantastic. I have put some of these in the mailbox at my house for the mail carrier find. I have dropped them off to teachers, office assistants, the veterinary office that takes of Sophie, etc. You can fill them with candy, teacher supplies, gift cards, and all sorts of little things.
