Acorns, wheat, and colorful leaves are classic for fall decorating and Thanksgiving tables. It turns out they are also fabulous for decorating fall scrapbook pages. The scrapbook layouts I have designed for November Scrapbook Workshops and Workshop Kits  have a sprinkling of all of these wonderful fall things, and I really enjoyed making them. Here are the there layouts. What do you think?

I started with the Close To My Heart Swan Lake Paper Packet, Complements, and a Black Shimmer Ribbon interwoven with a metallic thread. There are terrific fall acorns, flowers, and colors in the prints of this paper.

The Swan Lake Complements have coordinating stickers with gold foil accents, tags, titles, and assorted white acrylic shapes. It’s amazing how many pieces there are in a set.

I was especially excited to add wheat to my fall scrapbook pages this year. The new Close To My Heart Flower Market Cricut Cartridge  features floral die-cuts for every season, including wheat that is perfect for autumn crafting. There are both bunches and individual stalks of wheat on the Flower Market Cricut Cartridge, so it’s fun to mix-and-match. This really is a very versatile cartridge with another 700 unique designs.

Here’s a closer look at some of the details in the wheat and the combination of stickers from the Swan Lake Complements. I like being able to add the pre-made title stickers in different arrangements. Since each letter is an individual sticker, the letters can even be attached in arches like you will see on the “Gratitude” page. It’s nice to have lots of options.

swan-lake-collage-pm

swan-lake-gratitude-pm

The Workshop Kits complete all three layouts, with extra supplies leftover for more pages or other projects. There is even an extra full sheet of pre-printed Picture My Life Cards that can be used to add more photos and storytelling spaces. The Picture My Life Cards have both 3″ x 4″ and 4″ x 6″ cards with vertical and horizontal images printed on both sides. A full sheet looks like this and you can see how each card is featured with cards in both directions to fit whatever your project needs.

swan-lake-pml-collage-pm

Once the cards are cut apart they look like this. You can modify them by layering other Complement stickers, papers, stamping, and accents. In the picture below you can see where I’ve added some strips of B&T Paper, Zip Strips, and Complement stickers.

swan-lake-pml-cut-pm

You can slip the Picture My Life Cards into the Memory Protector Pocket Plus Pages and insert them into your album between your scrapbook pages. They add so much more storytelling space and kind of feel like interactive pages, as well.

It’s all designed to work well together and make preserving memories faster, simpler, and easier. Pretty great, right?

I’ve been creating with something super fun and new, the Close To My Heart Flower Market Cricut Cartridge. With 700 new designs, including two new fonts, I am finding so many possibilities for papercrafting fun. There are lots and lots of fabulous flowers, everything you could imagine putting flowers in, and oodles of die-cut shapes that have nothing to do with flowers at all. (Wait until you see the typewriter.)

As I sat down to experiment with this new cartridge, I could not resist making a little red wagon first. It’s fabulous, and I just had to share it with you. Here’s a layout I designed using the wagon, a clay pot, and some flowers. It’s a super simple composition with a fabulous splash of color and shapes from the Flower Market Cricut Cartridge Collection.

Flower Wagon PM

Working with this new cartridge has been great. The handbook is easy to read and shows you all the parts and pieces you need for each die-cut. This wagon can be found on page 3 of the handbook and looks like this.

Wagon Cartridge

The layering pieces are all sized and scaled to make cutting simple. For example, I wanted a wagon that would be 5-inches tall (that includes the handle) for my layout. I set my Cricut machine to 5-inches and left it at 5-inches while cutting each layer. The machine automatically cuts each layering piece to the right size so the pieces all fit together. For the wagon on my layout, I cut the base out of White Daisy Cardstock, the first layer out of Black Cardstock, and the top layer out of Poppy Cardstock.

Wagon Step 1

Then you just glue them together, one layer at a time.

Wagon Step 2

Wagon Step 3

So cute and so easy, right? The flowers and the pots worked the same way.

Flower Wagon Close Up PM

Flower Pot PM

Now you might be wondering about all of the fantastic bright, bold colors you see on these pages. Several of the papers  I used for this layout are brand new Close To My Heart colors. There are actually seven new colors in the Close To My Heart Adventure color group, and the Flower Market Cricut Cartridge Collection comes with a combo package of the Adventure Cardstock. That means you get two sheets of each color and 20 sheets of cardstock all together. There are also three exclusive stamp sets that come with the collection, making it a really great bundle of creative goodness.

Flower Market Cricut Cartridge Collection

You can get all of that beautiful paper, all three stamp sets, and the new Flower Market Cricut Cartridge for just $99.

Now if you are a digit Cricut crafter, there is also an option to purchase the Flower Market Cricut Collection in a digital format for only $79. You still get all of the paper and stamp sets, but instead of a physical cartridge, you have an online code to access all 700 designs online. This is perfect if you use a Cricut Explore machine.

Flower Market Sampler

Well, I will be sharing many more projects down the road that feature more great designs from this cartridge. It truly does have die-cut shapes to take you through all of the seasons of life and the seasons of the year. In the meantime, if you just can’t wait to get your own Flower Market Cricut Cartridge Collection, you can shop on my website by clicking here. When you order your Collection in August, you also receive a free gift from me.

Flower Wagon PM

Some treats just go great with summertime, don’t they? When my kids were little they knew summer was around the corner when the shave ice shacks started popping up around town. It’s one of those cold treats that is perfect for hot days. So, since we have been talking about scrapbooking summer activities, here’s a layout I designed for those memory making moments enjoying shave ice treats.

Shave Ice Layout PM

I used the Close To My Heart Carnival Fun Stamp Set and Thin Cuts for this layout. It’s the same set that I used on the Movie Night layout a few days ago, but it looks completely different. There are just so many ways to use the individual pieces from this stamp set. Today’s project is inspired by the snow cone stamp design in the set.

In case you’re not familiar with it, there is a stamp set and a matching set of Thin Cuts. Using Thin Cuts means you do not have to do a lot of detail cutting. Just run the Thin Cuts through your embossing machine, like a Big Shot or Cuttlebug, it pops out the die-cut shape, and then just stamp the coordinating image on top. Easy.

Carnival Fun Collage

Looking a little closer at the photo below, you can see I made the shave ice multiple colors, because more flavors can be more fun. Then, to coordinate with the tropical sort of theme that you find at some shave ice stands, I added a few large leaf die-cuts and made fringed accents in the Kraft paper to be like rafia.  The title letters are a font from the Close To My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge, and the leaves and the cup for the large snow cone are from the Close To My Heart Artistry Cricut Cartridge.

Shave Ice - Cone PM

Here’s a list of the supplies I used for this project.

  • C1648 Carnival Fun Stamp Set
  • Z3229 Carnival Fun Thin Cuts
  • Z3126 Enchantment Paper Fundamentals (Poppy print paper)
  • X5762 Lagoon Cardstock
  • X5751 Canary Cardstock
  • X5764 Pear Cardstock
  • X5635 Topiary Cardstock
  • Z1375 Kraft Cardstock
  • 1385 White Daisy Cardstock
  • Z2195 Lagoon Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad
  • Z2652 Poppy Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad
  • Z2643 Canary Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad
  • Z1979 Black Journaling Pen
  • Z2060 Thin 3-D Foam Tape
  • Z3167 Cricut Artistry Collection
  • ZZ3170 Cricut Artiste Collection

While that looks like a lot of different supplies to make these pages, this is a great example of using up parts and pieces of things I had left from other projects. It’s really just a little bit of ink and paper combined with some basic tools and adding themed elements from the Carnival Fun Stamp Set and Thin Cuts. All of these supplies are available on my website. Click here  shop online.

This layout also makes me think about shave ice I had while I was in Hawaii traveling with Close To My Heart. I had to drive up to the North Shore of Oahu to enjoy the view, and to take my daughter to Matsumoto Shave Ice. It’s the best. It’s a family owned business that’s been serving up their special shave ice since 1951. It’s amazing and definitely should be on your list of things to do if you’re ever in Hawaii. Here we are enjoying our cool treat.

Matsumoto's Collage PM

Well, that’s today’s little bit of creative inspiration. Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you are enjoying seeing some different possibilities for summer activities and scrapbooking as I plug the Carnival Fun Stamp Set and Thin Cuts into a variety of projects. There’s more to come. Have a great day.

Do you have a Cricut machine? I have one and it is cutting up a storm. There is quite a whirl of die-cut shapes coming out of my Cricut machine this afternoon. You know that “chirping” sound that your Cricut machines make when it’s cutting die-cut shapes for your projects? Well, there’s been a steady hum at my house today.

I am super excited about the new projects I am working on for Holiday Extravaganza. It’s true, Holiday Extravaganza, your first Christmas party of the year, is just around the corner and I’m having so much fun getting ready. Today I am finishing up some Halloween and Thanksgiving projects, along with creating some new Christmas gift giving items, too. Whew…there is holiday magic everywhere. I love it!

I have been having great fun combining different Close To My Heart Cricut Cartridges into my projects, but I am especially enjoying the new Artistry Cricut Cartridge. Oh, my goodness, the simple layering options are fantastic. Here are a couple sneak peek snapshots from the Halloween scrapbook pages that I’m working on.

Nevermore Collage PM

These are pictures from the Halloween layouts that I have designed for my October Scrapbook Workshops and Kits. I will be posting the pictures of the full pages and ordering information on October 1 (I can’t believe October is really in just two days). You’ll want to come back and see how these pages turned out and order a Workshop Kit so you are ready for pictures of all of the Halloween fun coming this month.

In the meantime, I thought you might like to hear a little more about the newest edition to the Close To My Heart Cricut family. Did you know you can look up Close To My Heart on YouTube to get tips and technique for different types of crafting projects? They do have some helpful videos there and this one has an introduction and overview to the new Close To My Heart Cricut Artistry Cartidge. If you don’t have this cartridge yet, watch this video to get the scoop on the special features for this cartridge. It is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

The endless possibilities with the overlays really is fabulous. I’m getting lots of festive goodies ready to share at Holiday Extravaganza and the Close To My Heart Cricut Artistry Cartridge is making it fun and easy. You can order a Cricut Artistry Cartridge on my shopping website by clicking here. Both the cartridge and the digital version are available for you on my website. I think you will enjoy the many different types of crafting you can do with this cartridge for the holidays, and every day.

I’m off to keep the creative flurry happening here. There are just so many things I am excited to try. If you live in the Boise Area, email me at Michelle@SomethingAboutSharing for information about attending this year’s Holiday Extravaganza. It is my favorite event every year and I enjoy sharing as many helpful tips for your Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas projects as I can…. invitations, decorations, gifts, home decor, and so much more. I can’t wait.

Today I am putting together September Workshop Kits and these pages just make me happy. The new Close To My Heart Zoe Paper Packet has a great combination of paper patterns with polka-dots, hounds tooth, grids, and arrows. It really is a cheerful collection of colors and prints. I added a little Canary yellow cardstock to the pages and made layout themes that I thought would be fun for photos of celebrations and things that make just make you smile.

What faces, places, and favorite things just make you smile? I designed the “Love This” layout with those types of photos in mind. The “Eat Cake” layout…well, what else do you need to say? There are so many great reasons for including cake in a celebration. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, graduation party, retirement party, or simply a special dessert after dinner, pictures where we share moments with family and friends will be perfect with these Zoe pages.

There are three layouts all together and they like this.

Zoe Layout 1 PM

Zoe Layout 2 PM

Zoe Layout 3 PM

In addition to the Zoe Paper Packet I accessorized these layouts with the new Coral Shimmer Trim and die-cut shapes from Close To My Heart Cricut Cartridges…including the brand new Close To My Heart Artistry Cricut Cartridge.

I love this new cartridge with it’s fabulous collection of over 700 unique designs. I think my favorite thing about it is the simple layering pieces like the “Eat Cake,” “Celebrate,” and that fantastic layered cake on the layout above. There are many different types of bases with interchanging overlays on this cartridge.

The Workshop Kits this month also include the Zoe Complements for accessorizing and personalizing your pages after you add your photos. Close To My Heart has redesigned these embellishments packages to give you a combination of coordinating sticker sheets, printed kraft die-cuts, and printed vellum die-cuts. They are really cute and helpful for journaling, too.

Zoe Complements I think you will enjoy using these Zoe layouts to tell some happy stories in your scrapbooks. There are a couple of workshop dates you can choose to attend in the Boise Area to make these pages. I can also put a Workshop Kit in the mail for you if you do not live here locally or the dates to not fit for your schedule. Either way, chose to enjoy some cheerful crafting and contact me for your Zoe Workshop Kit today. I think they will make you smile, too.

Sometimes I’m going through the week, getting all the “have-to’s” done and I just feel like I need to do something creative. Does that ever happen to you? There is something about having a creative outlet that is calming and relieves some of the stress of the day. Tapping into your creative side is kind of refreshing and refueling, not to mention a lot of fun.

For me, getting creative can include a lot of different types of activities. It could be making a card to send to a friend, catching up on some photos on my computer with digital scrapbooking, trying a new recipe for dinner, painting an old piece of furniture to give it a whole new look, or any number of things. I really enjoyed when my kids were small and we would color, build with Legos, or decorate cookies. Kids are great at adding a creative twist to just about anything. What kinds of things make you feel creative?

I have been enjoying some terrific creative time with the brand new Close To My Heart Artistry Cricut Cartridge. Wow…it is overflowing with possibilities.

What makes this cartridge unique? Well, to start, there are over 700 new designs to choose from. I love all of the simple layering options, the addition of animals, cameras, cool trendy shapes, and a funky new font. There are a lot of options for layering messages, icon images, main focus pieces, and so much more. You just set your size dial to one measurement one time, cut the layers in the colors you choose, and they stack right on top of each other to add color and dimension to each piece. Here are some examples so you can see what I mean.

Zoe Collage 2 PM

Would you like to see a few of my first projects with this cartridge?

Here’s a scrapbook layout and a card featuring the fabulous new cake and some of the celebration die-cuts.

Zoe Scrapbook Workshop PM

Cricut Artistry Cartridge Scrapbook Workshop

I love being able to make the cake in any color, and with any color of frosting? Did you have a chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting at your party? No problem. Try a Chocolate Cardstock base and a Cocoa Cardstock overlay for the frosting. It’s so easy.

Chocolate Cake PM

Hear are a few cards using some of the same die-cut shapes in different sizes, along with some different designs. How about that monkey? The Artistry Cricut Cartridge has several really cute animals designs.

Zoe Card Workshop PM

Cricut Artistry Cartridge Card Workshop

Like I said, there are so many options. I was just getting warmed up with these projects. I made all of these cards, bags, and scrapbook pages using the paper in the new CTMH Zoe Paper Packet with Coral Shimmer Trim accents. I did add a little Chocolate & Cocoa Cardstock to make the monkey, though.

The Close To My Heart Artistry Cricut Cartridge comes in a terrific collection with three exclusive stamps sets and a combo pack of cardstock featuring the new Enchantment color palette. It’s a really terrific package and even a great deal. You get the cartridge with all 700 designs along with the three stamp sets and cardstock for only $99. (Retail value about $120)

Artistry

There is actually a new option for all of you Cricut Explore or Cricut Explore Air folks. You can get Artistry in a digital format. The Cricut Artistry Digital Collection still comes with the same stamps and cardstcok, however the 700 images are accessed using an online code instead of a physical cartridge. Since it does not come with the actual cartridge, it also does not come with the booklet of images. If you are working primarily digitally AND with Explore machines this can be a nice option. This collection is only $79.

I am really enjoying the creative outlet this cartridge has been lately. I’m thinking it could be a terrific creative outlet for you, too. To help you enjoy some creative time in your world, I have a special offer to share with you, complete with projects all ready to put together.

Artistry Workshop Kit Special

When you purchase the brand new Close To My Heart Artistry Cricut Collection on my website between now and September 1, 2015, I will send you one of the Workshop Kits shown above, absolutely FREE.

Both workshop kits come with the supplies and instructions to make the projects you see in the pictures above. Choose from…

  • …the Scrapbook Workshop Kit to make the two page “Eat Cake” layout and the coordinating card.

What do you think? Would you like to make a scrapbook layout or a set of fun cards? Wouldn’t it feel great to enjoy a creative outlet with project pieces already prepared, PLUS a new Cricut Cartridge to play with?

Can you ever share too many smiles? I don’t thing so.

This week I am creating with a special stamp set called, “You’re The Bomb.” It’s a great stamp set with 18 individual images, encouraging messages, and terrific accent designs. Here’s a picture of the whole set.

You're The Bomb

Today I want to show you how to make a fun treat box that you can use to share a smile with a neighbor, your co-workers at the office, as party favors, or even put one in your mailbox to say thanks to your mail carrier. Everyone can use a little extra happy in their day.

The treat box looks like this when it’s all put together and ready to give to a friend. It is unbelievably easy to put together, and it’s a perfect size to be filled with lots of different types of fun things.

You're The Bomb Treat Box PM

This particular treat box is actually a die-cut shape on the Close To My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge. This cartridge has lots of different types of 3-D boxes, bags, and containers in addition to fun shapes, a fabulous font and a over 700 designs all together. The box I chose is found on page 35 in the cutting guide book.

CTMH Artiste Box Collage

Not only did Close To My Heart come up with bunches of great die-cut designs for this cartridge, they also made it super easy make these dimensional projects by adding an additional instruction book to the package. On the right side of the photo shown above, you can see that the second book shows you where to score each design, how to fold it, assemble, and even where to add glue when needed. It’s so helpful.

Once I chose the box shape I wanted to use and cut it out on my Cricut machine, then I just followed these simple steps to put the box together. It’s incredibly quick and easy.

Step 1-2 Box Collage

Step 1 – Score the box die-cut on the fold lines indicated by small cuts made by the Cricut machine during cutting. I like to use the Close To My Heart Score Board to get straight, even lines.

Step 2 – Add accent papers, stamped images, and messages to the front. This is where I had fun personalizing the message on the treat boxes with the “You’re The Bomb” Stamp Set. There are so many word combinations to choose from.

Steps 3-4 Box Collage

Step 3 – Fold end and side pieces in toward the center. Interlock the tabs. No glue needed.

Step 4 – Fill with treats, bring handles up to the center and tie with ribbon. Sometimes I use adhesive-backed mini Hook and Loop Dots to hold the handles together.

Pretty easy, right? Definitely so true.

The colors I used for this treat box are Canary, Thistle, and Pacifica. I really like how simple it is to make fun and personalized projects with the the Close To My Heart products. So many great resources.

YTB Accessory Supplies PM

The “You’re The Bomb” Stamp Set that I’ve been using with this week is extra special. Not only does it help me create encouraging treats for the people in my every day, it also gives me the opportunity to be a part of making a difference to children around the world through Operation Smile… and you can, too.

For every “You’re The Bomb” set that is purchased, Close To My Heart donates $3 directly to Operation Smile to help provide cleft lip and cleft palette surgeries for children in need. You can learn more about Operation Smile in my post yesterday or by clicking here.

All of the products that I used to make these boxes and the card I shared yesterday can be ordering through my online shopping. Just click here to see all of the Close To My Heart products, shop online, and have it ship directly to your front door. Keep in mind that the “You’re The Bomb” Stamp Set is only available until March 31.

AND…

When you place any order through me by March 31, 2015

that includes a “You’re The Bomb” Stamp Set you will

receive a FREE mini stamp set and a hand-stamped card

from me as a thank you for helping to share more smiles

and change the world of children around the world.

The stamp sets will be randomly selected and may include designs like the ones shown here.

Mini Stamp Collage

So can you think of three people who might enjoy receiving a little treat box from you? How about a cheerful card?

If your weeks are like mine, it’s easy to get too busy. Join me this week in being intentional about brightening each day by sharing some encouraging words and smiles to the people around me.

And when you think about smiles, remember the children that we can help along the way with stamp sets from Close To My Heart. I love working with a company that cares so much about making a difference in the lives of children and families.

January is National Papercrafting Month and I’ve been doing a lot of creating already. One of the things I’m enjoying creating with is the limited edition “Year >> Noted” Paper Packet from Close To My Heart. This terrific collection features brand new cardstock colors and Background & Texture papers, as well as fabulous gold foil stickers and an exclusive stamp set. The best part is you can get the whole set for only $5 when you place a qualifying $50 order. Plus, there is a $5 Kraft Mini Book option to the special. All together you can get over $34 in Close To My Heart products for $10. Here’s a little more about what’s included and some projects for ideas, too.

Earlier this month I finished a 12″ x 12″ layout highlighting some of Sophie’s favorite things in 2014. This is how those pages turned out. There are Flip Flaps on both pages to give me more spaces for photographs and journaling. You can see additional pictures of those pages by visiting my blog post from January 6, or you can just click here to link right to it.

Today I am using the papers, stickers, and stamps that were left over from the above project to create pages that I can put in a Kraft Mini Book. To personalize quick 3″x4″ or 4″x6″cards to slip into the Kraft Mini Book pocket page protectors I am cutting Picture My Life Cards from the Close To My Heart Artfully Sent Circut Cartridge. It is so handy to have such a huge variety of the cards included on this Cricut Cartridge. Here are a few that I am using in my Mini Book.

Celebrate Card PM

The “Celebrate” card I chose to share with you today was so quick and easy. The Cricut Artfully Sent Cartridge is scaled to make this 5″ x 7″ card so you do not have to figure out any dial sizing. I cut the sentiments overlay out of Silver Glitter Paper, and I layered scraps of Paper Fundamentals Adventure Assortment behind each letter for a bold pop of color and texture. So simple, yet great color, shimmer, and a festive finished project in minutes.

Here are the steps.

 1. Cut the overlay as shown on page 7 of the Artfully Sent booklet. (NOTE: When you cut this card as it is shown, the cartridge is designed to cut the whole card shape out for you. By doing this all you have to do is fold the card in half to have a finished project. I chose to cut the “Celebrate” section off to layer on a separate white base later.)

2. Choose a variety of colors to layer behind the letters. These are small pieces of the Paper Fundamentals Adventure Assortment that I had left after created some scrapbook pages for fall. I really like texture on the Paper Fundamentals. One side of each paper has a resist type texture and the other a contrast printed texture. I used the resist side for this project. Doing this type of layer is a great way to use up your scraps of paper.

3. Glue colored papers behind the sentiments overlay. Glue those small pieces of cardstock to the back of the overlay. If you are using the card as it was cut, be sure to layer a piece of cardstock over the small cardstock color strips so that they do not show when you open the card.

I chose to cut the overlay down by 1/4″ so that I could layer the overlay piece on the front of a solid white card base. This also created a border to frame the “Celebrate” message.
